Theme of the Month: Nourishing the Soul
We all understand the necessity to nurture our bodies with the right foods and to cultivate a positive mind set, but making sure to support our soul is just as important.
By taking the time to nourish our soul, we are developing a deeper connection with our inner self. Becoming more self-aware helps us to feel empowered, strong, creative, and inspired. For me, writing is a form of nourishment. I love to lose myself in the creative aspect of storytelling and journaling. Reading is another way for me to ‘fill my well’ as Julia Cameron explains in her book, The Artist’s Way.
How you nourish your soul is up to you.
Here are a few ideas you could try:
- Listen to music.
- Have a massage.
- Write in a journal.
- Walk in nature.
Throughout the month we will explore some of the ways you can nurture your inner self by working with the mind, body, spirit loop, trying the wheel of life exercise, embracing your inner child, and exploring some of the self-help books available to us.
In the meantime, think about the daily activities you do and ask yourself if they bring you joy. Observe the language you use when talking about yourself. Take a look at the people closest to you, and notice how you feel when you’re around them. Be honest with yourself. Notice how the television shows you watch influence your thoughts and behaviour.
Becoming self-aware is the first step we must take to find out who we are and what we want from life. Once we understand this, then we can begin to manifest everything that will nourish our soul in the future.
