Welcome to your Motivate Me Advent Blog Calendar!
Throughout December, I shall be opening a new advent door on a personal development technique or tip that you might wish to try that day or save for the New Year.
Door Number Four: Inspirational Reads
I’m biased when it comes to non-fiction self-help books because I’ve written a few and find the process of writing them to be hugely cathartic. Reading an inspiring story either by a well-known person or a leader in their field can change lives – literally!
I’ve heard of so many people who have been motivated to move country, go back to education, give up a vice, and much more thanks to the books they’ve read. I was honoured to receive a huge number of messages following the publication of How I Changed My Life in a Year from readers telling me how I’d inspired them to make positive changes. To be a part of someone’s story is the best thing a writer could hope for.

Has a book changed your life? Can you recommend an inspiring read? Let me know in the comments.
Not strictly self-help books, I suppose, but as a writer I was inspired by Stephen King’s ‘On Writing’ and ‘Bird by Bird’ by Anne Lamott.
I love ‘On Writing’ it’s such a great book! I’ve read a few fiction novels that have really hit home for me so I don’t think a life changing books needs to be non-fiction.
