Door Number Six: Listen to Your Body
You are what you think.
You are what you eat.
It’s terrifying to realise there is a powerful truth behind these statements. Thoughts become things is a mantra I live by and have done for many years, however, it can be hard to stay positive in some situations, especially when struggling with depression, but if you can concentrate on positive thoughts, then you’ll attract positivity into your life.
The same goes for ‘you are what you eat’ which is even more worrying at this time of year. At the moment I’m a walking mince pie! Understanding nutrition and what your body needs to survive and thrive can help you to make wise choices when it comes to what you put in your body.
Listen to what your body is saying – those aches, pains, and cramps are telling you something important, whether it’s to avoid a certain food, or to move a bit more.
The late, great Louise Hay once said that the more we get to know our bodies, the more they will guide us to good health. It’s hard work to get the body we desire – flat stomachs, tight buttocks, and less back fat can only be achieved through a good diet and healthy exercise.
Loving yourself is another big aspect of how we look and feel about ourselves. My self-sabotage when it comes to diet is a lack of self-respect, and that’s something I know I need to work on next year.
Can you hear what your body is saying to you? Be honest, how healthy is your diet (not including the additional indulgence of the festive season)?
