Door Number Three: Gratitude

I love writing in my gratitude journal. It’s something I do most nights (or mornings if I forget!) to help me focus on the good things in my life.

You’ve probably heard the ‘guru’s’ talking about gratitude journals and thought it was a lovely idea but takes time and effort, and quite frankly, you’ve got better things to do – well, I thought along the same lines for many years until I fell ill and couldn’t find any joy in day to day life. It was then I started searching for it and began writing down what I found.

A rainbow, coffee with a friend, my daughter’s laugh all made it into my gratitude pot, and slowly I began to notice the positivity surrounding me.

Personal development takes work and commitment. It’s not a quick fix where we jot something in a pretty notebook, and our life is given a do-over. If you honestly want to make changes, then you need to put in the work.

  1. Thank you for making me think about it. It turns out I’ve got a lot to be thankful for this morning. I’ve just come back from a run, so I’m thankful that I’m healthy enough to run.

    1. That’s fabulous, April. I was told by my chiropractor that I shouldn’t run (only walk or swim) and I do miss it. Like you, I often thank my body for what it can do – however limited!
