Motivational Advent Calendar: Door 14 #Arts #Crafts

Welcome to your Motivate Me Advent Blog Calendar!

Throughout December, I shall be opening a new advent door on a personal development technique or tip that you might wish to try that day or save for the New Year.

Door Number Fourteen: Be Creative

Oneof the happy memories I have from childhood was making handmade Christmas cards, bunting, and peppermint sweets with my mum. Getting crafty and artistic is a wonderful way to wind down and relax. It doesn’t matter if you can’t draw or paint as there are a host of pre-drawn colouring books you could enjoy.

For me, writing is my favourite way to get creative, so I’ll happily invent characters and settings and see where the story goes.

Do you enjoy arts and crafts? What’s your favourite crafty pastime? Why not set aside sometime this weekend to do something creative.

  1. I’m trying my hand at lettering at the moment!
Not sure if I’ll ever get the time for Bu-Ju creativity, but I’ve always loved calligraphy, so I’m practicing my own style! It’s so therapeutic!

    1. Ooh, that’s lovely. Hope you’ll be blogging about it! My daughter does a bullet journal and loves it but I don’t have the patience lol. Give me a blank page and a head full of characters and I’m happy.

  2. I’ve always got a colouring book to hand, because basically I’m just a big kid; but apart from writing, my creative outlet is music and dancing. I’m in a show on Sunday – eek!

  3. Hi Shelley, I used to sew all my daughter’s clothes once upon a time! I also do counted cross-stitch but writing and reading have taken over these hobbies to some extent. It’s good to try some crafts every now and again and reduce screen time as much as possible. Great advent calendar ideas.

    1. Thanks, Deb. I’m hopeless with any type of needle – knitting, sewing, and medical lol. My mum is amazing at arts and crafts so I leave her to do all the cards and gifts. When my grandma passed away I was given all her jewellery making kit and I did enjoy making necklaces and bracelets, but I haven’t done this for ages.
