The Power of Positive Thought

I’ve written about positivity many times before, and I continue to believe wholeheartedly in the benefits of positive thought. We’ve all experienced those days when we’ve slept through the alarm, laddered our tights, and hit every red light on the way to work. It’s as though that single panicked moment in time when we realise it’s 7.23am and we need to leave the house at 7.30am was the catalyst to a bad day. However, if we stopped to take a breath and accept that we’re running late, it can dramatically influence what could be a downward spiral.

On the other hand, focusing on the positives attracts more opportunities and an abundance of encouraging experiences to find their way into our orbit.

2018 Vision BoardI use my vision boards to attract all the material, spiritual, and emotional elements I want in my life. My board for this year includes images and quotes about travel, writing, health and wellbeing. It’s a visual reminder of what I want to work on for the months ahead.

I’ve seen many colleagues and friends attract incredible openings by using the power of positive thought, and I continue to work on this personal development technique within my own business and personal life. I’ve ‘ordered’ a parking space on many occasions and been delighted to see my pre-ordered space available as I drive into the car park.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been visualising a writing goal, and I’m delighted to say it’s come to fruition. My young adult novel, Oath Breaker, is a finalist in the RONE Awards 2018 for the Best YA Novel of the Year! Not only is that the most exciting news I can share but I’ve also been able to redirect funds to allow me to attend the award ceremony in California this October. When I glance at my vision board, I see a small image with the map of America on it – the power of positive thought!

It’s all very well thinking positively but to enable these opportunities to be realised we also need to use action to drive the energy towards our goals. I couldn’t be a finalist if my publisher didn’t submit my novel. I wouldn’t be able to think my way to a better body if I wasn’t willing to put the time and effort into eating a balanced diet and exercising.

“If your energy is positive, you attract positive things.”

Think about the language you use when talking about your life, goals, and dreams. Phrase it as if it already exists. ‘I am an author.’ ‘I’m healthy and happy in my own skin.’ Try it for a week or so and see what opportunities arise from being positive.
