Five Minutes With… Ritu from But I Smile Anyway @PhantomGiggler #Blogging

Welcome to Five Minutes With… a feature where I invite bloggers of all genres to tell us a little about themselves and their blogging journey.

Today’s blogger is Ritu Bhathal who blogs at But I Smile Anyway.

Q1: When and why did you start blogging? Which platform do you use?

Just over 3 years ago, I had a friend who decided to start a blog, to help her with depression. I went over to read, and comment, to support her, and needed to create an account with WordPress in order to do that. After leaving a comment, WordPress tempted me with that “Why not set up your own blog?” pop up, and so I did. I had no clue in reality what a blog was at all, but that was how But I Smile Anyway started!

Q2: What topics/themes do you blog about? Do you ever deviate from that theme?

Honestly, I have no real theme. On my blog you will find a real mishmash of creativity, from fiction and poetry to my thoughts and opinions. There is a healthy dose of positivity and humour in there too.

Q3: Which of your blog posts is your favourite and why do you like this one so much?

This is a really tough one to be honest as I don’t think I have a particular favourite! Because I write about such random things, there are lots of posts that resonate with me! But one I enjoyed writing about was this one, 7 rules to follow, to be a polite blogger. A little tongue in cheek, but things that should be done, really!

Q4: Do you have a top tip to share for any new bloggers that might be reading?

I think that the biggest thing any newbie blogger needs to remember is that building a blogging community is the most important thing. It is highly unlikely that you will gather a six-figure following within days or months, or years even, unless you start by reading and responding to others posts and comments too. I would be nowhere with the peeps I call my Blogily!

Q5: What’s your favourite social media platform?

I think for me, Twitter is my favourite, but I play about on several!
